Would you like to host a DML event in your city?

We have created a special toolkit for you.

Why was the Toolkit created?

The Toolkit was created in order to facilitate the steps required in order to achieve a successful Día de la Mujer Latina health fiesta project. It was sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Who is the Toolkit for?

The Toolkit was designed for those healthcare providers, advocates and community based organizations that have expressed interest in developing a health fiesta model focusing on culturally and linguistically specific health education and screening.

What does the Toolkit contain?

The Toolkit contains nine (9) sections designed to teach the reader on the unique aspects of the Latino culture. The Toolkit has information on the system and cultural barriers that hinder Latinos to access to medical services, strategies that have proven to be successful and templates of form letters in Spanish and English.

The sections of the Toolkit include the following:

  • Introduction
  • History of DML
  • Power Points on Barriers to Access & How to write a Grant
  • Templates of sponsorship form letters in Spanish and English
  • Templates of registration forms, volunteer forms and letters in Spanish and English
  • Pictures of some of the past events
  • Picturebook/fotonovela designed by Venus on Breast & Prostate Cancer
  • Sample posters and flyers
  • Letters of Support
  • A video + CD of a typical DML health fiesta.
